Fintech industry leader selects Beyond.pl Data Center 2 to colocate IT infrastructure

Beyond.pl, a leading provider of data center, cloud, and Managed Services and owner of data centers, has signed a contract to provide colocation services to  a Polish leader in the fintech sector with international reach.  Beyond.pl’s new client specialize in online currency exchange, fast payment services, investment tools, and online money transfers.

The company is one of the TOP5 providers in its sector, generating an annual transaction value of several tens of billions of USD. The company has been outsourcing its IT requirements for years, including colocation services. However, with the growth and international expansion of the business, its expectations from data center providers have evolved. The company was looking for a proven and trusted technology partner that would provide the company with the highest security standards for hosting its physical IT infrastructure, ensuring business continuity, compliance with legal regulations in the financial sector, and a sustainable model for maintaining the IT resources.

Regulated sectors such as the finance/fintech, medical, and utility sectors are obliged to comply with laws that regulate, among other things, how data, systems, and applications are stored and processed. Our client was looking for a professional IT service provider who, in addition to meeting the stringent requirements of The Polish Financial Supervision Authority and its international counterparts, would deliver a professional service and help reduce the carbon footprint of the company’s IT infrastructure. All of the requirements were met by Beyond.pl, says Wojciech Stramski, Beyond.pl CEO.

As a result, the company has decided to upgrade from the services provided by one of its existing colocation providers in for those to be provided by Beyond.pl. Strategic IT resources and sensitive data are currently hosted in Beyond.pl’s Data Center 2. This is the only facility in the European Union with the highest level of security confirmed by both ANSI/TIA-942 Rated 4 certification and the European EN 50600 Class 4 standard. Moreover, the data center has been characterized by 100% uptime since its commissioning in 2016. The uninterrupted maintenance of the IT infrastructure is critical for a company offering access to financial platforms and applications to individual and business customers in a 24/7/365 model. Beyond.pl also confirms that the customer data is secure and protected in line with multiple standards and norms, such as ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type 1 and 2, and the PCI DSS standard mandatory for entities storing, transmitting, and processing credit card data.

Beyond.pl also provides the customer with connectivity services. Data Center 2 is very well connected to key European hubs – round-trip data transfer times (latency) are 4ms to Warsaw and Berlin, 7ms to Prague, 11ms to Frankfurt, 14ms to Vienna, 16ms to Amsterdam, 17ms to Budapest and 24ms to London. Customers have the opportunity to benefit from guaranteed access to secure and redundant routes from Tier 1 Internet Services Providers (IPSs), multiple providers nationwide, and a Megaport access point which allows to directly connect to 360+ public cloud and SaaS platforms and 760+ data centers worldwide. Data speed and transaction times are a priority for each digital financial services company. One of the direct benefits of migrating the IT infrastructure to Data Center 2 was the latency reduction between foreign exchange platforms and fintech clients located outside Poland.

The transfer of IT resources to Beyond.pl has allowed the customer to reduce the carbon footprint of the colocated IT infrastructure. Data Center 2 is distinguished by its use of 100% renewable energy to power the facility, a very high energy efficiency (PUE) of 1,2 and a low water usage efficiency rate (WUE), placing Data Center 2 at the forefront of European low-emitting facilities. In addition, the facility’s lower energy consumption translates into lower energy costs correlated with the colocation service.

The fintech joins a group of nearly 500 national and international companies to whom Beyond.pl provides IT infrastructure services in multiple models ranging from traditional colocation to cloud, and hybrid solutions complemented by Managed Services offerings, including Managed Network, Backup, and Disaster Recovery services.
