Polenergia Group advises and provides green energy for Beyond.pl

Beyond.pl, a data center and cloud computing services provider, has established cooperation with two companies of the Polenergia Group listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Service agreements have been concluded with Polenergia Obrot S.A. and Polenergia Dystrybucja.

Polenergia Group companies will cooperate with Beyond.pl in the key areas relating to green energy supply and consulting services relating to the energy component of the campus expansion to 42MW in Poznan. The tender for supply of energy from renewable sources to Beyond.pl has been allocated to Polenergia Obrot S.A., which specializes in wholesale trade in electricity, gas, CO2 emission allowances, and guarantees of origin. The contract secures the demand for all the energy of the Poznan Campus in 2021 which will be 100% green and provides an option to extend it for the following year. Data Center 2, located on the campus, is the most efficient data center in Poland with a PUE energy efficiency ratio of 1.2.

In turn, Polenergia Dystrybucja, which specializes in energy distribution and sales to commercial, industrial, and individual customers, will provide specialist consulting services in the area of energy supply. As part of the cooperation, the company will be responsible to develop a concept for the expansion of the energy component in Beyond.pl’s data center campus in Poznan and supervise its implementation, including the activities of subcontractors. Upon project completion, the Beyond.pl campus will become one of the largest colocation facilities in Europe in terms of offered space and power. Its target power, based on 100% green energy, will increase from 8MW to 42MW (megawatt).

– The expansion project of our campus is very exciting, and our power demand will increase as much as 5 times versus where we are today. We wanted to entrust the handling of energy-related matters to experts who have the knowledge and practical experience in designing and managing these types of investments. Polenergia Dystrybucja has a deep portfolio of successful projects, which provides us a greater level of security of the implementation phase of the energy expansion phase. Concurrently, due to the group’s strong presence in the green energy sector, we have a common understanding of our joint sustainable development values and secured our needs in relation to green energy – explains Wojciech Stramski, CEO Beyond.pl.

– Polenergia Group has specialized in the production and distribution of green energy for years but also advises companies on how to build modern and energy-efficient solutions. The choice made by Beyond.pl is an expression of recognition to our knowledge, experience, and unique competencies on a national scale, which will help turn Beyond.pl’s strategic expansion project into a success – emphasizes Piotr Maciołek, a member of Polenergia Group Board responsible for renewable energy sources and distribution.
